Tottenham Hotspur visit St James' Park tonight for the second time already this season, following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup. Tonight's Premier League clash is live on Sky Sports with an 8:15 pm kick-off.

On paper, this has Newcastle win written all over it. The two sides are experiencing opposite runs of form with the Mags looking for their third Premier League win in a row and Spurs looking to avoid a third defeat on the spin.

Thomas Frank has put himself under unnecessary pressure by calling out the fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario at the weekend after a Nick Pope-esque howler.

Unfortunately, football isn't played on paper, so Newcastle will still have to put in a top performance to beat Spurs.

Hey Chris, Newcastle are playing too, mate

Chris Sutton has focused on the Thomas Frank issue when making his score prediction for the BBC, only really acknowledging Newcastle when it came to the score, but he made a good case for a home win so we'll let it slide.

"Tottenham boss Thomas Frank needs a result. He was so relaxed when he was at Brentford but now he just looks like a guy under pressure.

"Frank saying the supporters who booed Guglielmo Vicario after his mistake against Fulham "can't be true Tottenham fans" underlines the friction he is feeling at the moment, but he does have a point about the effect that has.

"As a player who has been booed a lot over the years, I can tell you that it doesn't have a positive impact on your performance. Being serious, though, I just don't get it - it just creates negativity.

"The Spurs players will probably be relieved to be playing away after that, but Newcastle have found a bit of form in the past week so this is not an easy trip at all.

"Tottenham have already lost at St James' Park this season in the Carabao Cup, and I am going for a repeat result, by the same scoreline.

"Sutton's prediction: 2-0"

We are hoping the pundits are right about this one

Paul Merson also went with a home win with a two-goal deficit, using Thomas Frank's pressure as the reason.

We hope they're right, but some people thrive under that kind of pressure and can use it to turn a negative into a positive, so we're not as confident as the pundits are.

Or is that just us being cautious because we don't like to stick our neck out?
