Jamie Carragher was not impressed with Tottenham as they went in 1-0 down to Chelsea at half-time.

Thomas Frank made five changes to his Tottenham side, but it was their London rivals who made the better start.

Tottenham’s clashes with Chelsea are some of the most intense that they will face all season, and that was the case on 1 November.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium clash was expected to be full of fireworks, and it did not disappoint.

Thomas Frank antics lead to Jamie Carragher dig at Tottenham

Tottenham were looking to bounce back from their Carabao Cup exit to Newcastle in midweek, but they failed to do so.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Joao Pedro notched the opener, after dismal defending from Spurs, Carragher could not resist a dig at the Lilywhites.

Frank was spotted kicking a water bottle in fury, and the ex-Liverpool man made the quip just afterwards on Sky Sports.

He said: “You see Thomas Frank there, kicking that water bottle.

“That was a stronger challenge than his defenders put in [for the goal]”

Tottenham need Frank to keep his head against Chelsea

Spurs need Frank to keep his head if they are to get back into the contest against their rivals.

If he cannot, and he keeps showing moments of fury, then how are his side supposed to keep their composure and get the required result.

Carragher’s dig was not exactly wrong, the defence were not good enough for the goal, but the Dane needs to keep his composure on the sidelines.

He risks sending the wrong message to his players, by launching a furious outburst, and it could potentially make things worse.

The ex-Brentford man needs to calm down and deliver his message to his players it right way, so that it has the right effect, rather than making them even more desperate as they attempt to come back.

If they push for a winner, without being defensively solid, it will only keep the outcome the same and mean the Lilywhites come away with nothing.
