Eddie Howe has a strong squad available to him as Spurs come to St James' Park
Newcastle United can close the gap on their Premier League rivals with two home victories this week, starting against Tottenham on Tuesday night.
After ending their away hoodoo at Everton on Saturday evening, Eddie Howe's side can now look forward to two matches at St James' Park, with Burnley on Tyneside this coming weekend.
First, however, is the challenge of Thomas Frank's Spurs, a side United have already beaten 2-0 this season in the Carabao Cup in October.
Howe has a strong squad available to him, and could be set to rotate his starting XI again after some key players were rested at Everton.
However, both managers will be missing several first-team stars through injury on Tuesday night, with Spurs badly hit by absentees.
Newcastle will again likely be without striker Yoane Wissa, although the striker is very close to his debut after playing in a behind-closed doors game last weekend.
The frontman is expected to have another runout with a potential place in the squad against Burnley next weekend.
Dutch defender Sven Botman will again miss the match with a back problem, with United waiting on a verdict on whether he will need treatment on the issue, while William Osula will again sit this one out with an ankle problem.
Goalkeeper Nick Pope picked up a groin problem in training just before the Everton game, which meant Aaron Ramsdale made his first Premier League start for the club at Everton. Pope is again out for Spurs, meaning the ex-Arsenal man is in line to start once more.
Kieran Trippier's hamstring injury has proved to be more serious than was initially thought, and he will be out for around a month, meaning he won't be available for the game against his former side.
Spurs boss Thomas Frank has some big-name absentees for the game, not least creative playmaker James Maddison, who is set to miss most of the season after undergoing ACL surgery in August. The former England star actually picked up the knee problem against Newcastle in a pre-season friendly in South Korea.
Fellow forwards Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke are also on the sidelines, with Swedish winger Kulusevski closing in on a return from a knee problem later this month.
Solanke is also expected to return in December from an ankle injury, but this game will come too soon for the former Bournemouth and Liverpool striker.
Defensively, Spurs have two players out, including Romanian centre-back Radu Dragusin, with the 23-year-old ruled out with a knee problem. Japanese stopper Kota Takai is also ruled out with a thigh injury although could return to the squad next weekend.
Argentina star Cristian Romero will return after a one-match suspension for picking up five yellow cards - he sat out the 2-1 defeat to Fulham - but midfielder Yves Bissouma is out with an ankle injury.
The former Brighton star suffered the blow on international duty with the Ivory Coast and currently has no planned return date.
