Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are in the picture to sign Atlético Madrid’s Conor Gallagher this summer, according to claims from Spain.

Last summer, the midfielder left Chelsea for the La Liga and could return to the Premier League, where Newcastle and Tottenham are his suitors.

Friday’s edition of Marca looks at Atlético players, including Gallagher, who can leave in this window.

Diego Simeone is expected to use Pablo Barrios and summer signing Johnny Cardoso as his first-choice midfield pair, with Koke behind the duo. This means Gallagher drops down the pecking order and Marca claim he could ‘seriously consider’ returning to England.

The newspaper says Newcastle have the 25-year-old on their agenda, without mentioning Tottenham or another English club. Los Rojiblancos, for their part, aren’t ruling out his exit before the window closes.

Journalist Rubén Uría, relayed by Fichajes.com, reported on Newcastle and Tottenham interest in the former Chelsea man on Twitch.

He reports the Magpies, Spurs and an unnamed Premier League club are all keen on the player, but none of them have made an offer yet.

Fichajes.com points out Gallagher is happy at Atlético but could consider leaving since his role could be limited this season and it can impact his chances of representing England at the 2026 World Cup.
