Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad are ramping up their preparations ahead of Thursday evening's Europa League showdown against Eintracht Frankfurt. It is literally all or nothing for Postecoglou and Spurs as they look to try and finish a wretched season on a positive note.
Unable to get the win in north London last Thursday despite fashioning some good chances, the Lilywhites are going to have to try and produce something special in Germany given Eintracht Frankfurt's record in the competition this term. Dino Toppmoller's team have yet to lose in five Europa League home games, with their last European fixture at Deutsche Bank Park seeing them beat Dutch giants Ajax 4-1.
Ahead of departing for Germany on Wednesday afternoon, the Tottenham team have been putting in the work at the club's Hotspur Way training base. Here are four things we spotted from their latest training session:
Injury boost
Postecoglou and Spurs have received some welcome news ahead of the Frankfurt clash with Kevin Danso returning to training. Making a name for himself at centre-back since joining from Lens at the end of the January window, the centre-back has not made an appearance since the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in early March.
Danso has been suffering with a hamstring injury but it would appear that he is now in a position to return to the matchday squad. The ex-Southampton man was involved with his teammates at their Enfield base and his return means Spurs now only have Radu Dragusin in the treatment room after their previous injury struggles.
Danso will more than likely take his place on the bench in Frankfurt unless Postecoglou elects to bring him in from the off.
Son hiding
Tottenham have received a boost going into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie after Son Heung-min was spotted with the squad. The Tottenham captain was absent from the matchday party on Sunday for the 4-2 defeat at Wolves.
Speaking at Molineux, Postecoglou revealed that Son had a knock on his foot and there was no point in him travelling with such a big game on the agenda, with the Australian then confirming after the game that his experienced attacker should be fine for Thursday. In Tottenham's latest training video, Son could be seen hiding behind Danso when the club's media team were recording the players making their way out to training.
The South Korean could then be seen working with the rest of the squad as they went through a number of warm-up drills. It will now be down to Postecoglou to decide whether Son starts or he chooses another option on the left flank.
Odobert boost
Son wasn't the only absent player at Molineux on Sunday as Wilson Odobert was also missing. Postecoglou revealed that he was simply "managing him" and that the winger should be in a position to return for the game in Germany.
Odobert was another to take his place in training at Hotspur Way ahead of the crunch Europa League game. Postecoglou will certainly have options on the wing for the game in Germany with all his attackers appearing to be available.
Ineligible players involved
Tottenham have a handful of players who are not eligible to feature for the team in Europe due to UEFA's squad rules. As Tottenham could only name a squad of 23 players rather than the standard 25 due to only having two of the required four club-trained players, some stars have had to watch on from the stands when the team are in European action.
Fraser Forster, Timo Werner and Dragusin were the three to be cut from the original squad when changes could be made at the beginning of February following the closure of the transfer window. Sergio Reguilon once again missed out on selection and there was to be no place for January addition Antonin Kinsky.
Kinsky, Reguilon and Werner could be seen putting in the work with their teammates in training despite the fact that they cannot play in Europe for Tottenham. Forster, on the other hand, didn't appear to be with the rest of the goalkeepers as they trained away from the outfield players.
