In a ceremony in London this evening (Monday 26 October), Harry, who came through our Academy ranks before breaking Jimmy Greaves' long-standing goalscoring record for the Club, has been named the world's greatest footballer.

Scoring a record 280 goals for us in 435 appearances, Harry joined our Academy back in 2009 before signing his first professional contract the following year as his journey to becoming a true Tottenham great began.

A loan spell at Leyton Orient soon followed before he got his initial taste of first team action for us, making his debut against Hearts in the Europa League in August, 2011, prior to the first of his 280 goals for the Club coming in the December, striking away at Shamrock Rovers.

Loans at Millwall, Norwich City and Leicester City followed for the forward before another break for him came in Lilywhite as, at the tail end of the 2013/14 season, he was thrust back into our first team and made his mark, scoring three Premier League goals, including one against Sunderland on his full debut in the competition.

As Mauricio Pochettino arrived in the subsequent summer, the youngster had to bide his time a bit more but, when he scored to win the game with a deflected free-kick at Aston Villa in November, 2014, it was a moment he never looked back from.

Going on to score 31 goals for us in all competitions that campaign, including 21 in the Premier League as we finished fifth, he also earned his first England cap that season and scored a matter of seconds into his debut - he is now his country's leading goalscorer, a record he broke during his time in north London. Meanwhile, he has made the joint most appearances for the England national team in history. He will take that record for his own next month.

In 2015/16, Harry followed up that stunning first season with a further 25 goals in the Premier League to show he was no ‘one-season wonder’.

The goals continued to pour for Harry with another 30+ haul in 2016/17 and 2017/18 while, in his nine full seasons in our first team, he never returned less than 20 goals in a campaign.

In 2020/21, he perhaps enjoyed his best season on all fronts. Ever adding more elements to his game, not only did he show just how strong his abilities were as a playmaker, recording more assists than any other player in the Premier League that season, he also showed the defensive facets of his game, becoming a critical component for us when defending set-pieces, while he showed his adeptness to make recovery challenges. Oh, and he won the Premier League's Golden Boot once again that year.

That season, he became the first ever player to win the Premier League's Playmaker award and Golden Boot.

Perhaps his greatest moment in a Spurs shirt came in 2023 though as he broke a record no one associated with the Club ever thought was going to be broken - Jimmy Greaves' all-time goalscoring record of 266 goals.

Yet, Harry was going to be the man to do it. He was always going to be the man to do it. Determined and ambitious, unrelenting but ever humble, Harry worked, and worked and worked to succeed, so perhaps there was no player better befitting of breaking that record. One of our Own, Harry Kane.

Scoring goal number 267 for us in a 1-0 win over Manchester City in February, 2023, he went on to score a further 13 goals for us before departing for FC Bayern in the summer.

He has continued to find success with FC Bayern, breaking record after record after record in Bavaria and now has the greatest individual honour any footballer can aspire to achieve. Recognised by his peers as the greatest footballer in the world with the Ballon d'Or trophy.

As our first Academy graduate that has gone on to win the award, we could not be prouder.

Harry went from being a boy to a man in N17 and became a Spurs legend. Forever One of our Own.

Congratulations, H.
