West Ham are in advanced talks with La Liga outfit Valencia over a loan exit for midfielder Guido Rodriguez this month with a deal expected to be concluded before the end of the window.

The 31-year-old has made just eight appearances so far this season and has started just two Premier League matches, only one under Nuno Espirito Santo. West Ham signed Rodriguez from Real Betis in August 2024 on a free transfer.

Rodriguez did feature in the vital 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. The Argentinian was handed 11 minutes off the bench but was rated a 7/10 by Hammers News for his cameo, as Nuno’s side snatched a win.

West Ham in ‘advanced talks’ with Valencia over loan exit

Tribuna Deportiva carry reports of advanced negotiations between the two clubs with a short-term loan in the offing. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has also reported on the story and wrote: “Valencia are closing in on loan deal to sign Guido Rodriguez from West Ham. Valencia will pay Guido’s salary until June, deal close as @MatteMoretto reports. It was never done/agreed with Juventus despite reports from Italy; offered to Juve but never advanced.”

Last summer, Rodriguez opened up on the impact that a lack of West Ham minutes had on his involvement with the Argentina national team. The player has only been handed minutes for his country once since June 2023.

He said: “I wasn’t called up for the last few squads. But it’s understandable because I haven’t really played much in recent months, especially in a national team with great players.

“To be there, you have to be at the best level possible. But I’m honestly taking it easy and working to get back to that level. It’s something I would like to see.”

Guido Rodriguez not only Hammer linked with midfield departure

It’s set to be a busy month of change for the West Ham midfield. The club had been focused on attacking and defensive additions, but a fresh face is also expected in the centre of the park.

Lucas Paqueta is set to leave the London Stadium for Flamengo with James Ward-Prowse supposedly a target for relegation rivals Burnley. Soungoutou Magassa has also been linked with a move away, despite having only arrived last summer.

In terms of incomings, West Ham had been linked with Feyenoord man Quintin Timber, but appear to have been beaten to that deal by Marseille. Middlesbrough man Hayden Hackney is another name linked to the club.

In other news, West Ham should hijack £35m Premier League transfer for 'defensive machine' who is 'in talks'.
