The Englishman had been sent to Pittodrie for a second loan spell for the duration of the 2025/26 season, but has now been recalled early by the Premier League side.

Alfie Dorrington has been recalled from his Aberdeen loan by Tottenham Hotspur after just five months in the Granite City.

The Englishman, who helped the Dons to Scottish Cup glory last season, had returned for a second spell at Pittodrie for the length of the 2025/26 campaign.

However, on the day of Aberdeen's clash against Rangers at Ibrox, it was announced Spurs had opted to active their recall option for the centre-back.

Dorrington made 14 appearances under former boss Jimmy Thelin, who was sacked on Sunday, during the campaign, including six in Europe.

Tottenham said in a statement: "Alfie Dorrington has been recalled from his loan at Aberdeen.

"Having spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Pittodrie, where he lifted the Scottish Cup in May, the defender rejoined the Scottish Premiership side on loan in July.

"He went on to make a further 14 appearances for the Dons, including six in European competition.

"A product of our Academy, Alfie made his senior debut for us in December, 2024, in a 5-0 Premier League win over Southampton."

An Aberdeen statement added: "We can confirm Tottenham Hotspur have today formally activated their recall option on defender Alfie Dorrington. Everyone at AFC wishes Alfie the very best with his future career."
