Andy Robertson's next club looks to have been decided, with the former Liverpool left-back having reportedly reached an agreement after making his final appearance for the Reds

Andy Robertson looks to be on the verge of completing a move to Tottenham this summer, despite a late attempt from another club to hijack his next move.

The left-back, of course, brought his nine-year spell at Liverpool to an end on Sunday, with Robertson and Mohamed Salah both playing their final game for the club against Brentford.

Both players will depart as free agents, with Robertson’s contract expiring this summer and Salah agreeing to have the final year of his deal waived. Although the Egyptian’s future is still uncertain, Robertson’s next move looks to have been decided.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has been reached with Tottenham, and a deal is expected to be signed soon after Roberto De Zerbi’s side secured their Premier League survival on the final day.

Robertson was touted for a move to north London during the January transfer window, although Liverpool was not in a position to sell him amid a raft of injuries in defense, while the 32-year-old didn’t push for an exit.

He looks set to complete his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though, despite a late attempt from Juventus to turn his head.

Romano claims the Italian club, which has also been heavily linked with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, sent a proposal to Robertson, but the defender is expected to respect a pact he reached with Tottenham.

If he does complete the move to Spurs, as expected, Robertson will be aiming to help his new side to a much-improved showing in next season’s Premier League.

Tottenham has recorded back-to-back 17th-place finishes for the last two campaigns, and only narrowly avoided relegation this season, finishing two points above West Ham.

Although his time at Liverpool is up now, Robertson insists he’s still got plenty to offer in his career.

"For me, this is the biggest chapter in the book, but the book still isn’t finished, and I still have a lot to give," Robertson told Sky Sports.

"I still want to achieve a lot of things in my career, but these last few weeks have given me the opportunity to reflect on my Liverpool career. which I probably didn’t do. As footballers, we always look forward to the next, but I have been able to look back on the happiest times in my life.

"It’s not easy to leave Liverpool, but the fact of the matter is, my time is up. My contract has ended, and that happens to everyone at some point. I look back on my nine years with zero regrets, but it is never easy leaving a club like this.

"Playing in front of the fans, in big games at Anfield, they are the things that I will miss. And knowing that is coming to an end is so difficult. But players and clubs have to move on, and I am very understanding of that.

"I believe I have so much more to give. I want to achieve more. I am trying to get as many Scotland caps as I can, but also at club level, I believe I can still win things and make an impact on whatever changing room I am in next."
