Tottenham Hotspur haven’t been all that busy in the summer transfer window so far.

Indeed, Spurs have only secured one summer signing so far, and even then, that was the signing of Mathys Tel, a player who was already at Spurs last season.

Luckily, more reinforcements are on the way, and Tottenham have some interesting signings in mind.

Eberechi Eze is a Tottenham target, while Antoine Semenyo is someone Spurs are keen on too.

However, it sounds as though Spurs’ second signing of the summer could be a more left-field option as they close in on the signing of Kota Takai.

Takai is set to join Tottenham as a first-team option, and one player in particular should be excited by this move.

Archie Gray should be excited by Kota Takai arrival

Archie Gray could end up being a key beneficiary after Kota Takai’s arrival at Tottenham.

The Spurs midfielder endured a strange first season in north London, it must be said.

Gray earned plenty of praise from his peers and pundits at times, but, he wasn’t able to showcase his full potential.

Indeed, sadly, due to a serious injury crisis last season, Gray spent most of the campaign playing out of position at centre-back.

However, with Takai set to arrive in north London, Gray will surely now have played his last game at centre-back for Spurs.

Gray was signed to play in midfield for Tottenham, but, so far, that hasn’t quite gone to plan, but now, with more depth in defence, the youngster should be able to focus on playing his natural position.

Archie Gray’s positional breakdown for Tottenham

Archie Gray was bought by Tottenham as an option in the midfield, but, more often than not, he’s been shifted around in numerous different positions.

After his first season at Spurs, Gray’s positional breakdown looks utterly bizarre.

This is a testament to just how versatile Gray is, but in football it’s not ideal to be a jack of all trades at times.

Gray will be hoping to develop into a top-level player, and in order to do that he needs to specialise in one position and develop a level of consistency in that role.

With Takai headed to Tottenham, Gray should be allowed a real run playing in his preferred midfield role at Spurs.
