This season, Spurs has gained many new players, including Palhinha, Simons, Kudus, and Kolo Muani, who have all started for the club in Premier League matches.
Will these players make a difference and prevent Tottenham from placing 17th again?
Mohammed Kudus, a Ghanaian right winger, is one of the talented new arrivals to join Thomas Frank’s team. He was sold to the club for around £55 million from London rivals, West Ham. Kudus is playing really well bearing in mind he is new to the club and is still building chemistry with his new teammates. For example, he is currently joint first place for the most assists in the Premier League this season with four. Also, Kudus has made 32 successful dribbles in the league and has made six successful crosses in the Champions League.
João Palhinha has already made a difference. The Portuguese international has played in nine Premier League matches and, in these matches has scored two goals and has made one assist. His first goal was scored in a 2-0 away win for Spurs against Manchester City and his second was against Wolves which ended in a draw. He has also made an impressive 39 tackles in the Premier League since arriving at the club as well as being voted the Premier League’s Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 2 (in the game against City).
As for Randal Kolo Muani – who is currently on loan from PSG – not much can be said. Although he managed to score for France against Spain in the Euros, Kolo Muani has only played in four games and hasn’t made too much of an impact.
Furthermore, Xavi Simons has made six appearances for Spurs (in the Premier League) since joining, five of which were starts for the midfielder. He has a pass accuracy of 85.2% and has made one assist. The rest of his play has been average, but the season still has a long way to go so he has time to show off the talent he displayed in the Bundesliga. He certainly has big shoes to fill as he’s taken up ex-captain Son Heung-min’s squad number.
Overall, these players have made a difference but still have plenty of time to prove themselves even further.
Spurs’ next Premier League match is a London derby versus Chelsea, at home, on the 1st of November. Although Tottenham are 3rd in the league and Chelsea are 9th, Chelsea fans are still sure that they will win.
Chelsea fan Zain Lin said that he is “incredibly confident” about the upcoming match and that Chelsea are going to “thrash Spurs”.
Will Spurs be able to prevent this with the help of their new players?
