Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs in the mix to sign Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka in the summer.

That’s according to Monday’s edition of Bild, who cover Arsenal and Spurs in their report on the midfielder.

Tottenham’s interest isn’t new as he was on their agenda for the winter market. Towards the end of January, Sport Witness covered claims of a Spurs approach to sign him.

Earlier this month, Sport Witness relayed German claims of Mikel Arteta’s side making an attempt last month. No club were successful in securing his services in January.

Arsenal and Tottenham still keen

The Germany international has less than six months left on his contract and confirmed his decision to leave Bayern Munich after this season.

At the weekend, the 31-year-old scored in the Bundesliga winners’ 3-0 league win over Werder Bremen. He impressed in the latest clash and that clearly pleased Bayern Munich director Max Eberl, considering Goretzka is leaving after this season.

“No lamenting, no complaining, nothing at all. He faced the situation. he made a decision,” he said.

Bild then look at where the player could move in the summer.

His status as a free agent, experience at the highest level and impressive performances for the Bavarian club make him an attractive option.

Atlético Madrid showed interest in the winter market, but it’s unclear what their stance is for the summer.

According to the newspaper, Goretzka ‘would like to move to the Premier League, where Arsenal and Tottenham are keen. For now, his focus seems to be on finishing his time at the Allianz Arena on a brighter note.

Why he’s leaving Bayern Munich

Another German newspaper, Südwest Presse, also focus on his latest performance against Werder Bremen and his comments on wants to win the title this season.

The newspaper then points out January was ‘less enjoyable for Goretzka’ because Bayern Munich informed him of their decision to not renew the contract. He had held talks over an immediate move to Atlético, but no deal took shape.

Südwest Presse add that Arsenal, Tottenham and AC Milan have all closely monitored developments.

With the German favouring a move to England, Arsenal and Tottenham would fight for his signature in the summer.
