Arsenal are reportedly pursuing the son of their former defender, Matthew Upson, as the teenage centre-back prepares to depart Tottenham at the end of the month. Upson made 57 appearances across six seasons for Arsenal during his playing days before subsequently representing Birmingham City and West Ham in the Premier League. The former defender also earned 21 caps for England before hanging up his boots in 2016.
The 47-year-old's son, Elijah, also operates as a defender and has progressed through the academy system at Tottenham after joining the club aged seven. He has confirmed his departure from Spurs after more than a decade once his contract expires and it appears he could emulate his father by representing Tottenham's bitter rivals.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal have registered their interest in Upson Jr.
The 18-year-old would arrive on a free transfer and any agreement would represent a move for the future from Arsenal, who consistently scour the nation for the finest emerging talent.

Arsenal have already targeted adding another gifted teenager to their squad this summer by launching a move for the highly-rated Leicester City winger, Jeremy Monga.

Monga is just 16 years of age but has already attracted several Premier League admirers after breaking into the first-team fold at Leicester.
The Foxes are keen to retain Monga following their relegation from the Championship.

However, it was reported by The Mirror over the weekend that Arsenal are leading the race to secure the youngster's signature when he turns 17 next month.
Arsenal are also pursuing more experienced attacking reinforcements and maintain a keen interest in Morgan Rogers.

The Aston Villa attacking midfielder is not short of elite level suitors, though, and is currently at the World Cup with England.
