Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall, according to CaughtOffside.

Arsenal currently sit at the top of the Premier League season and have also reached the Champions League semi-finals in what could become the club’s most successful top-flight campaign in over two decades.

At the same time, rivals Spurs have endured a disastrous season, finding themselves in the relegation zone with five matches left after a 2–2 draw against Brighton on Saturday.

Tottenham are now without a win in their last 15 Premier League outings (D6 L9), marking the worst run in their history in the competition.

That downturn has sparked growing speculation that several first-team players could depart during the summer transfer window if they are relegated, with several of their key players already attracting interest.

Arsenal are not left out among clubs looking to poach players from Spurs, as CaughtOffside reports that Mikel Arteta’s side have expressed interest in signing Swedish midfielder Bergvall next summer.

The North London club are considering submitting a ‘creative offer’ to Tottenham, according to the report, as they look to retain the exciting midfielder in North London.

‘New Eriksen’

While Tottenham have maintained an unsellable stance on Bergvall, their instability amid relegation fears has increased speculation about the 20-year-old’s future, with the club expected to demand a fee starting from £50m, with Arsenal now keen, CaughtOffside adds.

However, the Gunners face stern competition from London rivals Chelsea and European giants Barcelona, who are also keen on the Swedish international dubbed the ‘new Eriksen’, according to the report.

Across Europe’s top five leagues, only a handful of managers can match the midfield depth at Mikel Arteta’s disposal, particularly after the additions of Martin Zubimendi, Christian Nørgaard, and Eberechi Eze to an already strong core featuring Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Martin Ødegaard, and academy product Ethan Nwaneri, who is currently on loan at Marseille.

Even with that depth, concerns remain: Nørgaard is on the wrong side of 30, Merino is still working his way back from a long-term foot injury, and Ødegaard continues to deal with recurring fitness issues, all while uncertainty over his future persists.

In light of those factors, it would be wise for Arsenal to target a younger midfielder with comparable quality and high potential, with Bergvall emerging as a suitable option ahead of the summer transfer window.
