Eyes on Arsenal's midfield

Sky Sports' Nick Wright at the Emirates Stadium:

"Arsenal fans will be excited to see this Arsenal midfield in action. Mikel Arteta is clearly anticipating the challenge of breaking down a low block.

"These kind of games have been their Achilles heel in recent years but Eberechi Eze's inclusion alongside Martin Odegaard should help.

"Declan Rice, back in the No 6 role today, with Martin Zubimendi on the bench, will also be eager to impress. He struggled in the 1-0 loss to his former club here last season."

Bukayo Saka makes his 200th Premier League appearance this afternoon - at the age of 24 years and 29 days he's the seventh youngest player to that milestone.

Buoyant Bowen

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has been involved in 11 goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances, scoring eight and assisting three. He has also scored five career goals against Arsenal in all competitions.

Diouf one to watch for West Ham

Sky Sports' Nick Wright at the Emirates Stadium:

"A lot of focus on how West Ham will contain Arsenal but Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta are capable of causing the hosts problems and so is Malick Diouf. The left-back has been a bright spot in a difficult season so far.

"He'll have his hands full defensively up against Bukayo Saka but expect him to get forward at every opportunity. Quick, direct and with a wicked cross, he is definitely one to watch. The 20-year-old has three assists already this season."

More Gabriel heroics?

Gabriel has netted 18 Premier League goals for Arsenal – the most of any defender across the league since his debut in September 2020.

Set-piece specialists

Nine of Arsenal’s last 14 Premier League goals have been scored via set-pieces (seven corners, one free- kick, one penalty). Overall, 16.7% of the goals scored under Mikel Arteta have been from corners.

PL Predictions: Eze to star in Arsenal win

Eberechi Eze is not your typical Arsenal midfielder. He doesn't deal in safe passes, low-risk link play or rehearsed rotations. He thrives on chaos.

Unpredictability is in his blood and in an Arsenal side that, at times last season, could feel a little too methodical in the final third from open play, Eze's spontaneity and eye for something different is the perfect curveball that opposition players must warn against.

SUPER 6: Over 350,000 players are predicting a 3-0 win to the Gunners

With the technical security around him, he's going to get more touches in dangerous areas, more one-on-one situations and this should lead to an increase in his shots on target numbers than what the algorithms are predicting.

He's recorded two shots on target in both of his last two starts at Newcastle and Port Vale which points towards the 6/4 on him clearing that line again with Sky Bet being a slice of value.

SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0

LAST TIME OUT: EVERTON 1-1 WEST HAM

LAST TIME OUT: NEWCASTLE 1-2 ARSENAL

Gabriel to exploit West Ham weakness?

Sky Sports' Nick Wright at the Emirates Stadium:

"Gabriel's availability is a boost to Arsenal after his knock against Olympiakos, especially against a team who have had huge problems defending set-pieces this season.

"The Hammers have conceded seven goals from corners so far, which is four more than any other Premier League side.

"Their new boss, Nuno Espirito Santo, will have doubtless used his first full week in charge to work on the issue. But if anyone can exploit any lingering weakness, it's Gabriel, fresh from his headed winner against Newcastle."

Odegaard and Eze named in attacking Arsenal XI

Sky Sports' Laura Hunter at Emirates Stadium:

"All the debate in the lead up to today surrounded whether Martin Odegaard or Eberechi Eze would start as Arsenal's nominal No 10. Mikel Arteta clearly thinks his side will benefit from the threat of both, as Zubimendi drops down to the bench to accommodate a very attack-minded midfield three.

"Gabriel has overcome a midweek scare to take his place alongside Saliba in a familiar Arsenal backline, while Trossard is named alongside Gyokeres and Saka in attack.

"Aaron Wan-Bissaka returns for the visitors, meaning Kyle Walker-Peters is benched."
