The Club can confirm the permanent transfer of Ashleigh Neville to Leicester City.
Ash, 32, arrived at Tottenham Hotspur over eight years ago – in July, 2017 - and has since become one of our very best to wear the Lilywhite shirt. The experienced defender went on to make 191 appearances, with 115 coming in the Women’s Super League, becoming the first Spurs player to have surpassed a century of appearances in the league.
Since making the move to north London in 2017, Ash has played an integral part in our journey to become an established side in England’s top flight. In May, 2019, she produced a crucial last-minute clearance off the line to ensure a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa to clinch the point needed to secure promotion to the WSL for the first time.
A consistent performer at right-back, Ash then netted her first WSL goal in a 1-1 draw with Reading in November, 2020, and would write her name in the Club’s history books the following season by reaching 100 appearances for Spurs while becoming our first player to receive the WSL’s Player of the Month award in February, 2022.
A stunning 40-yard strike in the 2022/23 season opener against the Foxes also saw her become the first Spurs player to win the league’s Goal of the Month award. The following term was another season to savour, with Ash reaching 150 appearances in Lilywhite and being part of the historic Women’s FA Cup run as we reached the final of the competition for the first time in our history.
Andy Rogers, Managing Director of Tottenham Hotspur Women, said: “Ash’s contribution to the Club has been immense. She has been influential on our journey to establishing ourselves as a Women’s Super League team, and she departs as an undisputed Club legend.
“A true pioneer of the Women’s game on and off the pitch, Ash has always shown love and care to her teammates, staff, and our supporters. From helping us break into the top flight, to representing us at Wembley Stadium in our first-ever FA Cup Final, we are forever grateful to Ash and wish her all the best for the future. Forever a member of the Spurs family.”
