We’re just a week away from the opening of the 2026 summer transfer window and the rumour mill is starting to speed up as a result – so we’ve scoured the gossip columns to pull together our latest round-up of some of the biggest (and wildest) new Premier League transfer rumours currently doing the rounds, starting with a story involving Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo is starting to become “unhappy” about his role at the club and is worried about being stuck behind emerging youngster Rio Ngumoha – raising the possibility that the Dutchman could leave Anfield, three-and-a-half years since he joined for a fee which could have risen to as much as £45m.

The report claims that Aston Villa and Spurs are both keeping “informed of developments” ahead of potential bids, while AC Milan and Atlético Madrid are among the overseas sides showing interest. While Liverpool are “not actively looking to sell” Gakpo, there is enough uncertainty to make a move a possibility – and Football365 separately reported over the weekend that Spurs could bid up to £73.5m for him.

Apparently TEAMtalk’s sources have also told them that Gakpo could end up being used as a makeweight in a deal to sign RB Leipzig wonderkid Yan Diomande this summer, with the Reds “determined” to land the young Ivorian by any means necessary. There’s no word on how Liverpool value Gakpo if he does leave.

The 3AM Verdict: A very speculative article and we’d be very surprised if Gakpo ended up being used in a part-exchange deal for Diomande – Leipzig would most likely rather have the cash. We wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the Dutchman leaving, however, even if it’s too early to have a clear picture of where he might go and who might be in the bidding. We imagine the fee would be a lot less than £73.5m, however, and we’re dismissing the Football365 report as fantasy, or at least exaggeration.

Serie A star ‘attracting attention’ from Spurs and Nottingham Forest

Spurs are involved in our next story, too, which comes from Sport Witness – who cite sources in the Italian media in claiming that Atalanta right-back Raoul Bellanova has “attracted attention” from the Premier League, with Spurs and Nottingham Forest both “in the picture.”

While the 26-year-old has fallen out of favour somewhat in Bergamo, his athleticism and attacking style of play apparently makes him a potential target for both sides, with Fulham and AC Milan also getting a passing mention as possible suitors down the line.

Atalanta, for their part, are “open” to a sale and a transfer fee of around €20m (£17.3m) “should be enough” to persuade them to part with Bellanova. Apparently Atalanta would prefer to sell him to an English side, giving Spurs and Forest (and Fulham – it’s not clear why they’re only a footnote compared to the others) a possible edge.

The 3AM Verdict: Bellanova has some of the traits required to be a useful squad player for the sides mentioned, but we’re not sure we can envisage him ousting Pedro Porro, for example. It may be that a few teams have him on their radar should the price be good enough to make him a sound investment, but we doubt he’s a key priority for sides like Spurs and Forest, but we’ll see.

Coventry make club record bid as Sky Blues eye Southampton man

We’ll wrap up with a double whammy transfer rumour involving newly-promoted Coventry City, starting with the news that the Sky Blues have reportedly made a club-record £20m bid for Callum Rushworth, the Brighton goalkeeper who starred on loan with Frank Lampard’s side last season.

The Coventry Telegraph are among the outlets reporting the story, which seems to stem from transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, but Rushworth isn’t the only player Coventry are making overtures towards – according to TalkSport in their reporting of the Rushworth bid, they are also “weighing up” an offer for Southampton centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

There’s no word on how much they might be prepared to offer for the 24-year-old, who has one England cap to his name but who missed out on a return to the Premier League with Southampton in the wake of the ‘spygate’ scandal.

The 3AM Verdict: The bid for Rushworth has been fairly widely reported in the past 24 hours and seems to be eminently plausible given how important he was to Coventry’s promotion push. Fewer sources attest to the Harwood-Bellis story as it stands and he was involved in a minor scuffle with Lampard earlier in the season – but he’s also proven to be good enough for the Premier League, so we wouldn’t be shocked if that were a hatchet Lampard was prepared to bury.
