Barcelona eye Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven, Liverpool in shock link with former player Jarell Quansah - Paper Round

The future of Micky van de Ven at Tottenham Hotspur is in doubt with Barcelona said to be weighing up a summer move for the defender. Elsewhere in Wednesday's Paper Round, Liverpool are linked with their former player Jarell Quansah, now playing for Bayer Leverkusen, and Championship side Wrexham have been linked with a shock move for Fulham star Harry Wilson, who is out of contract this summer.

Van de Ven to La Liga?

Barcelona are weighing up a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven, reports The Sun.

Despite making the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League, Spurs have had a tough season domestically and have been dragged into a relegation battle.

Given their struggles, the Netherlands international is reportedly unhappy at the club and has caught the eyes of Barca, Real Madrid and Liverpool.

"Barcelona are keen on signing Micky van de Ven from Tottenham this summer, according to reports," writes The Sun.

"The Catalan giants want to sign a left-sided defender ahead of next season. Inter star Alessandro Bastoni is said to be top of their list of priorities.

"But with a deal for Bastoni looking difficult, Spanish outlet Sport claim that Barcelona fancy their chances at prising Van de Ven away from Spurs.

"The defender is believed to be unhappy at Tottenham amid their miserable season.

"The Dutchman will have three years remaining on his Spurs contract come the summer.

"But amid his strong desire to leave the crisis club, it’s claimed that Barcelona chiefs somewhat optimistically feel that they could sign him for less than £55million.

"In addition to Barcelona, Van de Ven is also attracting interest from Real Madrid and Liverpool."

Liverpool could make surprise move for Quansah

Liverpool could make a surprise move for former player Jarell Quansah, according to a report in the Daily Express.

Quansah left Liverpool for Bayer Leverkusen in a reported £35 million deal last summer but his performances for the Bundesliga side have attracted attention from many clubs, including The Reds.

However, it may cost Arne Slot's side up to £70m to complete the signing.

The report reads: "Quansah has been a key part of Leverkusen’s revival, so much so that his performances are already attracting attention from some of Europe’s elite clubs.

"Among them is Liverpool, who, according to reports from Sky Germany, are considering bringing back their former academy graduate. It comes just months after they sanctioned a deal to let Quansah join Leverkusen for £35 million.

"It would cost Liverpool significantly more than that to bring him back though, with the reports suggesting the buy-back in his contract is worth a whopping £70m.

"Liverpool are said to only have until the end of May to activate the clause, and failure to do so would allow Leverkusen to hold out for a higher price."

Reds linked with Bastoni

The Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Internazionale defender Alessandro Bastoni.

Liverpool have already agreed to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes in a reported £60m deal, but having missed out on Marc Guehi to Manchester City in January, they may require more defensive reinforcements.

The article reads: "Liverpool are reportedly one of several clubs interested in signing Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.

"According to Caught Offside, the Reds are joined by Arsenal and Barcelona in looking at potentially signing Bastoni, with Liverpool said to be "closely monitoring" the defender’s future.

"Bastoni has been linked with a move away from Inter in the past, but is regarded to be a key player for the current Serie A leaders who would be determined to keep the defender at the club."

Wrexham enter Wilson race

The future of Harry Wilson continues to make headlines, with Championship side Wrexham the latest to be linked with the Fulham star.

Wilson is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Aston Villa and Everton.

But Wrexham could also be in the mix to capture his signature, reports The Sun.

"Wrexham could join the race to sign Harry Wilson this summer if they earn promotion to the Premier League, according to reports," reads the article.

"The Red Dragons are targeting a fourth successive promotion as they look to complete their journey from non-league to England’s top division.

"Should they achieve the feat, Wrexham chiefs are expected to make some huge new additions to the squad.

"And they could start by signing Wilson – who could be available on a free transfer.

"The high-flying Fulham star is likely to become a free agent this July, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

"Aston Villa are the frontrunners in the race to sign him, but they face competition.

"TalkSPORT has claimed that Wrexham could enter the mix to sign him if they secure Premier League status."
