Barcelona are monitoring Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro, but signing the Spain international is expected to be extremely difficult given his long-term contract and Tottenham’s determination to retain him, reports SPORT.

Porro has attracted attention through his performances, making him one of the defenders on Barcelona’s radar as Hansi Flick considers solutions for the position.

Even though Eric Garcia’s conversion into a right-back has provided the German coach with an internal alternative, Barcelona continue to assess the market for potential reinforcements.

Barcelona transfer plans include Pedro Porro

Barcelona’s interest in Porro comes from their search for greater depth and quality on the right side of defence.

While Garcia has offered Flick another option through his positional adaptation, the club is continuing to monitor specialist right-backs who could strengthen the squad.

Porro’s attacking contribution and experience make him an attractive profile for Barcelona.

His connection with Lamine Yamal on the right flank with the Spanish national team has also demonstrated the potential for an effective partnership, although any reunion would depend on whether a transfer could be negotiated.

Tottenham contract complicates Pedro Porro transfer

Porro renewed his Tottenham contract until 2031, with an option for an additional year, underlining the club’s long-term commitment to the defender.

Spurs have also demonstrated their appreciation for him, giving him a guard of honour upon his return following the World Cup.

His relationship with head coach Roberto De Zerbi is another important factor.

Porro is described as one of the senior figures in the dressing room and remained supportive of the manager during a difficult start to the campaign.

Tottenham have since moved away from the relegation zone and are showing signs of improvement after a period of poor results.

That progress makes it harder to imagine the club willingly losing an influential player while attempting to establish greater stability.

Tottenham are understood to have no intention of allowing Porro to leave, regardless of the interest from Barcelona.

On top of that, his lengthy contract also gives the London club considerable leverage in any transfer negotiations.

Can Barcelona sign Pedro Porro despite Tottenham’s resistance?

For Barcelona, Porro is an appealing target, but their interest must be weighed against the practical difficulties of completing a deal.

Tottenham’s firm stance, the defender’s long contract and his importance to De Zerbi all work against a straightforward transfer.

Garcia’s versatility helps Flick manage the position, but the fact that Jules Kounde could leave might force Barcelona to make a move.
