Brennan Johnson has been an impressive signing for Tottenham.

Since joining the Lilywhites in September 2023, the Wales international has been a key part of Tottenham’s success and their struggles over that period.

However, Johnson has performed poorly under Thomas Frank, and his place in the starting eleven is under huge threat.

Jarrod Bowen is linked with a move to Tottenham, and it could have huge ramifications for Johnson‘s future in N17.

Jarrod Bowen’s potential arrival spells trouble for Brennan Johnson

Bowen could join Spurs in January for a fee of £52million, surpassing the total that was paid for Johnson in 2023 (47.5m).

MORE SPURS STORIES

With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, the move to Tottenham would be perfect for Bowen to get himself on the plane to North America.

This coincides with Johnson’s underwhelming season, and it could harm his chances of having consistent game time at Spurs.

Bowen has 130 goal involvements for West Ham, and he has proven over and over again how consistent he is at this level.

Johnson scored the winning goal in the Europa League final, and Spurs fans will never forget the joy he brought to them.

However, Bowen is a clear upgrade out wide, and if Tottenham want to qualify for Champions League football under Frank, then Johnson might need to be sacrificed.

Despite West Ham’s problems in recent seasons, Bowen has shown that he is one of the best wingers in the country.

Jarrod Bowen outperforms Brennan Johnson statistically

If Bowen were to sign for Tottenham, the expectation is that Mohammed Kudus would move to the left wing, taking Johnson’s position, in order for the West Ham star to play on the right.

According to FotMob, Bowen has completely outperformed Johnson in the Premier League this season, registering 1.17 expected assists compared to Johnson’s 0.16.

Bowen has also created six more chances, made 93 more passes, and eight more dribbles than the Spurs winger.

It’s clear to see that Bowen would be a huge upgrade, and if Johnson doesn’t hit form in his next few games, it could have drastic consequences for his role at the club.
