Tottenham are eyeing a move for Manchester City’s Savinho to improve their wide options.

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a pair of torrid Premier League campaigns, finishing 17th in the past two seasons. They narrowly avoided relegation, securing their Premier League status for 2026/27 on the final day of the season at the expense of London rivals West Ham.

One area that contributed heavily to the Lilywhites’ struggles this past season was a wide department sorely lacking guile, creativity and penetration. The departure of the iconic Son Heung-min mightily affected Tottenham’s attacking unit, with none of Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert and Randal Kolo Muani managing to fill his glaring void. And with Odobert and Simons unlikely to play again this year due to ACL injuries, adding a quality winger has become a necessity.

Manchester City’s Savinho remains one of Tottenham’s priority attacking targets. Tottenham have recently been in talks with Manchester City over the signing of Savinho, who was denied a move to White Hart Lane last summer. Recent reports have suggested that the Brazilian is keen on the move and fascinated by the prospect of working with De Zerbi.

Former scout Bryan King makes big admission on Tottenham target Savinho

Man City are open to selling Savinho this summer for around £60 million, having demanded more last summer. Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the 22-year-old will not have any problems agreeing on personal terms, as his camp has already sounded out Tottenham about his desire to join.

Having started just seven Premier League matches under Pep Guardiola last season, the Brazilian international is now keen to move on from the Sky Blues to revive his career, and specifically wants to stay in the Premier League. He scored four goals for City last season despite injury problems and limited playing time.

Now, ex-scout Bryan King has given his verdict on Savinho’s potential move to Tottenham. He feels the winger’s decision to join Spurs will be entirely for footballing reasons and not due to a possible bump in wages.

“When you’ve got a squad as big as Man City have, players are always going to be available,” Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News.

“I think several players will be moving on from there, and Savinho is one of them. He hasn’t been great for them, but if he’s good enough to be brought in by Man City, he’s going to be of interest within the Premier League.

“If the price is right, they’ll let him go to Tottenham. He hasn’t been a regular in their team, if you’re a footballer, you just want to play football, it isn’t just about money, and that’ll be why he wants to join Tottenham.”

Savinho to get a contract worth £120k-£140k per week

Savinho couldn’t crack it at City, and it is understandable why. At 22, he has a long career ahead of him, and rather than sitting and wasting his talent at the Etihad Stadium, he wants to embrace a new challenge. There is a burning desire to prove himself, and Tottenham could be an ideal destination for the South American trickster.

Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe revealed earlier this week that Tottenham are set to hand Savinho a contract worth £120k-£140k per week. This would make him the North London club’s joint-sixth highest earner, alongside Dominic Solanke. He is currently on an £80,000 wage packet at the Etihad Stadium, and a switch to Spurs should see that rise significantly.

As King notes, money is unlikely to be a motivation for the Brazilian international looking to swap City for Spurs. Savinho is a player with high potential, and if he wants to unlock it, he should be playing regularly under a top coach. At Tottenham, he’d be able to do that.
