The second-round draw for the 2026-27 Carabao Cup took place on Monday, August 10.
This stage of the competition sees some Premier League sides enter proceedings, including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.
While most of the biggest teams in the country — including holders Manchester City — are not involved in the tournament yet, these early rounds offer the prospect of some intriguing knockout ties. Last season, Manchester United were eliminated by fourth-tier Grimsby Town at this stage of the cup competition.

Carabao Cup second round draw 2026-27
The draw was carried out on Monday, August 10, prior to the first-round game between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City.
The draw is split into northern and southern regions until the third-round stage.

When are Carabao Cup second round games?
The matches are due to take place in the week beginning August 24. That is the week after the Premier League season starts.
The ties are expected to be played in midweek, although exact dates and times will be confirmed at a later date once the broadcast schedule is decided.
Why do some Premier League teams enter Carabao Cup in the second round?
At this stage, the 11 Premier League teams not competing in European soccer this season enter the draw.
The remaining top-flight teams will not be involved until the third round.
