Chelsea are ready to sell young defender Josh Acheampong amid interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Football Insider, Josh Acheampong could be a player that Chelsea might consider selling this summer. The young defender only recently signed a new deal at Stamford Bridge, however, should a favourable offer arrive on their table, the club could potentially plan for a departure.

Josh Acheampong made 13 appearances for Chelsea last summer which was probably his chance to impress. A highly rated defender coming through the famed Cobham Academy, the 19-year-old Chelsea prodigy could now be in danger of being sold.

Chelsea closed a new contract with the defender back in December, and since then he has been afforded decent opportunities to shine. He has been a decent performer in a backup role, although the Blues are stacked in the right-back position which could see the club consider a sale.

it remains to be seen what sort of price point would Chelsea demand for the defender, as they would view him as a market opportunity given his homegrown status and what his sale would do for their PSR commitments. West Ham United were keen earlier, although it remains to be seen whether they are still in the mix.

Newcastle United and Tottenham are certainly considered suitors at the current moment, as either of those sides are eager to sign a new backup right back to their squads. Overall, should Chelsea clarify their stance on the 19-year-old prodigy, they could anticipate some good enough offers to come in for the talented defender.

Newcastle United and Tottenham interested in Josh Acheampong

Newcastle United could lose Kieran Trippier as he has been looking for a way out for a while now. The Magpies are uninterested in selling Tino Livramento, as the idea of Acheampong could be designed to provide backup in the right-back position. Newcastle United have signed former Chelsea academy stars like the aforementioned Livramento and Lewis Hall, with the dupo proving to be a big success.

As for Tottenham, they do have Djed Spence as a right-back option after Pedro Porro, the former is seen more for the left-hand side. Hence, there could be an opening for a backup right back in this window, which could see them explore a rather challenging prospect of negotiating with Chelsea for Acheampong.
