In terms of incomings, Chelsea had a very quiet deadline day on Monday, with Mamadou Sarr being the only player to arrive.

Bringing Sarr to Stamford Bridge was pretty straightforward, as the defender is owned by Chelsea and was only at Strasbourg on loan.

What proved much more difficult was trying to sign Jeremy Jacquet, who joined Liverpool instead in the end.

In contrast, when it came to exits in west London, there was much more activity.

Tottenham considered Axel Disasi move

One Chelsea player who left Stamford Bridge on deadline day was Axel Disasi, with the centre-back signing for West Ham United. However, it is thought that they were not the only London team who were interested in Disasi.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur also considered signing Disasi before his temporary move to the London Stadium.

The 27-year-old has joined Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on loan until the end of the season, but it appears that he could have easily ended up at Spurs instead.

For Disasi, the most important thing was leaving Chelsea. While Disasi was allowed to rejoin the first team, he made zero appearances under Liam Rosenior, and that was unlikely to change given the options that the Chelsea manager has.

Before Sarr’s arrival, the Blues already had Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong.

No way back for Axel Disasi after West Ham loan

Because of the amount of centre-halves Chelsea have, there is simply no chance of Disasi putting on a blue shirt again after his loan spell at West Ham.

Chelsea could yet sign another central defender in the summer, which would not help Disasi’s cause.

Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano had been linked to Chelsea, but it is now being reported that he has agreed to sign a new contract with the German club.

A more experienced option than Jeremy Jacquet ✅

You would now expect Chelsea to sell Disasi, whom they signed from AS Monaco in 2023, in the summer transfer window.
