Tottenham Hotspur have a concrete interest in Como’s Nico Paz and have made attempts to sign him this summer.

Earlier this month, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Spurs offered €40m, but the Serie A side turned it down.

On Sunday, the journalist explained Tottenham have increased their bid to €50m, which is still short of Como’s €70m valuation.

Gianluca Di Marzio provides the latest on the Europa League winners’ pursuit of the 20-year-old, who joined Como from Real Madrid a year ago.

Thomas Frank’s side have made a new offer of €65m plus €10m in bonuses, which meets Como’s valuation. Despite this, the Italian club have rejected this and Di Marzio claims Tottenham are unlikely to raise further.

This decision was taken after discussions between Como’s Indonesian owner and the La Liga side. They hold 50% of the attacking midfielder’s rights, meaning Real Madrid will receive 50% of the resale fee.

Paz is also in favour of staying with the Italian club, with a hope of returning to Real Madrid next summer.

Di Marzio reports that unless there’s a major turnaround, the Argentina international will continue at Como.

Como will hold fresh talks with Real Madrid to buy the remaining 50% of his rights. Xabi Alonso’s side can still retain the buyback option, but for higher than the current price of €10m.

On Sunday, Como sealed a 2-0 win over Lazio and Paz got his name on the scoresheet. After the tie, Sky Italia, relayed by Gianluca Di Marzio, asked Cesc Fàbregas about Paz’s future.

“Nico Paz? I know he’s very happy in Como, he wants to be a top player. He always trains on free kicks, and he scored,” he said.
