Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to completing a double transfer deal this week ahead of taking on West Ham at home in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon.

The visit of the Hammers is the perfect chance for Thomas Frank to pick up a first win since the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on December 28. Spurs have gone four without a victory since then, a painful defeat to Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the FA Cup on Saturday the latest blow.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have not won any of their last 10 league fixtures and defeat to the struggling side could prove fatal for the under pressure Frank. The Tottenham Hotspur boss could be boosted by two new transfer signings.

Conor Gallagher flies to London for Spurs medical

Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher has flown back to the UK this morning ahead of completing a medical with Spurs later today. The Mail reports that the former Chelsea and Crystal Palace man is set to complete a £34.7 million to Tottenham Hotspur, but that personal terms are still to be finalised.

Gallagher had been linked with Aston Villa on a loan-to-buy move but Spurs rushed in to pounce on that deal after it emerged that Rodrigo Bentancur would miss most of the remaining campaign due to a hamstring injury picked up in the 3-2 defeat to AFC Bournemouth.

Lucas Bergvall is also currently out injured with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski longer term absentees. It’s reported that Spurs had asked Atletico about a straight loan deal but saw that approach turned down.

Atletico paid £34 million to sign Gallagher from Chelsea in 2024. The England international has made 77 appearances for the La Liga giants but had fallen out of favour this season.

Tottenham finalising Souza transfer deal

Meanwhile, Spurs are also finalising a deal for Santos left-back Souza, who is reported to have travelled to London on Monday to work with the club on finalising his transfer.

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to pay €15 million for the 19-year-old with a five-year contract on the table. Souza will provide competition for Djed Spence, who has come under fire for his performances at full-back at times this season.

Destiny Udogie is also an option in that position but has struggled with injuries this term. The 23-year-old is now back in training ahead of a potential return.

Taking to social media platform X over the weekend, AS journalist Eduardo Burgos wrote: “Souza is travelling this Monday to England to undergo the medical exams and sign his contract.

“Santos and Tottenham have already reached a total agreement for the player. It was finalized this afternoon. Five-year contract, until 2031. Santos will receive 15M€, fixed and variables.”
