Tottenham are busy trying to sign some of the biggest talents the Premier League has to offer, such as Brentford right winger Bryan Mbeumo and potentially even Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze.
But they are also working on discussing potential sales. There are those whom Spurs are actively trying to offload, such as Richarlison and Yves Bissouma, and then there is the prospect of the club's two best players leaving by their own wishes, Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero.
How the futures of Son and Romero proceed depends on both Tottenham and the players themselves, but the most important of the two for the club's long-term future is undoubtedly the 27-year-old Cristian Romero.
In the prime of his career, Romero was named the best player of the Europa League Tournament, which Tottenham won behind an excellent performance from the serial winning center back in the Final vs. Manchester United. Romero has been linked to big clubs in Spain since before the Europa League Final, and Tottenham supporters are worried he could push for an exit after the club callously dismissed Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham have set a high price for Cristian Romero
However, according to the latest information from BBC Sport's Sami Mokbel, no club has stepped up with an interest in paying the 70 million pound asking price for Romero that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has set.
Now, Romero pushing his way out of the club could change that, but there's really nothing other than speculation to fuel the rumors that 1) Romero wants out and 2) Romero wants out to Atletico Madrid over Tottenham.
The reality is that Atleti have not offered anywhere near the high asking price Tottenham have set for one of their star players and vice captain. And in the last month, there has been no indication that Atleti are serious enough about a transfer for the Argentinian hero to actually make a competitive bid for a player some are calling the best center back in the world.
