Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers after Eberechi Eze chose to join Arsenal.
Eberechi Eze is close to joining Arsenal following the most dramatic turn of events, having initially agreed on a move to Spurs.
Daniel Levy is quickly having to move the club’s search for an attacking midfielder on, with Tottenham identifying Rogers as a ‘dream signing’.
It has been reported that a move for the England international will be ‘very difficult’ due to Aston Villa’s strong stance over wanting to keep him.
But following the debacle around missing out on Eze and links to Rogers, now linked with a move to N17, Spurs fans have been making their feelings very clear about the 23-year-old.
Tottenham fans demand Morgan Rogers bid after Eberechi Eze agrees to Arsenal move
Tottenham Hotspur fans are demanding that the North London club pay up the money for Morgan Rogers, with Eze expected to now join Arsenal.
On Tuesday evening, the Villa star won the PFA Young Player of the Year award following a stellar season in the Premier League.
Morgan Rogers, who is a close friend of Brennan Johnson, will be a nearly impossible deal to do, Fabrizio Romano has revealed, but Spurs have been discussing him internally.
The Lilywhites view him as the ‘perfect candidate’ for the attacking midfield role and he could be the ideal replacement target for Eze.
Villa don’t want to sell Rogers, and having already sold Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United, Spurs would need to make a massive bid for the player.
After hearing about the links to the 23-year-old, Spurs supporters have taken to X to share their thoughts on a potential deal for him.
One fan claimed: “£140m for Morgan Rogers and Savinho. Get it done… Tottenham’s only way out of this completely embarrassing situation.”
“Now that I’ve gathered my head again, if we can somehow bring in Savinho and Rogers, the window is completely saved,” stated another Spurs fan.
There were further calls for Rogers to be signed: “If there is any player that I would spend that much on, it’s Morgan Rogers. This man would make us title contenders.”
Finally, another supporter added: “Levy now has one chance of redeeming himself. A player like Rogers will be acceptable, but otherwise, he has lost the fanbase forever. The next hours and days are crucial.”
Levy now faces a tough battle in trying to deliver adequate players for Thomas Frank’s squad, which is in desperate need of reinforcements.
Rogers would represent an elite signing for Spurs, however, actually convincing him and Villa about the transfer could be very tough.
Morgan Rogers could be the ideal Eberechi Eze alternative for Tottenham
Rogers would undoubtedly be the most ideal alternative target to Eze, following the youngster’s superb breakout campaign.
Last season, in the Premier League, he managed an impressive eight goals and 11 assists as Villa just missed out on Champions League football.
Rogers could fill two roles in Frank’s team as he can play both as a number ten and out wide on the left, which are areas Spurs are looking to fill.
