Tottenham Hotspur made several impressive signings this past summer, and Danny Murphy has been split on his opinion of two new players.

Thomas Frank looked to make his mark on the Tottenham team immediately this summer by building his own squad, and so far his transfer decisions have looked impressive.

Tottenham spent £55million on Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. Since joining the club, Kudus has delivered strong performances.

Meanwhile, Spurs paid £51.8million for Xavi Simons, but Murphy believes there is a big difference between the two players and how they’ve started this season.

Simons and Kudus have been regularly used by Frank this season, with the two men helping Tottenham to make an impressive start to the season.

Spurs are third in the Premier League table after the opening seven games, but Murphy explained on talkSPORT that while Kudus is flying, Tottenham will want more from Simons.

“They’re heavily relying on Kudus in the games I’ve watched. And that’s fine, because all top teams have certain players they really rely on.

“And he’s been outstanding, by the way, what a signing. He’s been outstanding and their best player this season by a mile. So maybe they can keep getting away with relying on set plays as a big factor in today’s game.

“I just think sometimes, in the games I’ve seen, I’m thinking, you know, if he’s not doing it, who’s going to open the other team up? Who’s going to make your chances?

“I mean, they’ll expect a little bit more from Simons, because they spent big money on him. But he is a talent, and he’s going to take a little bit of time to get going.”

Peter Crouch claimed Kudus was “unplayable” against Leeds United this past weekend, with the ex-West Ham star having shone brightly throughout the game.

How do Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons compare to each other?

Given their similarities in football play, Kudus and Simons are likely to be compared throughout the season.

Spurs fans will have high expectations for both of them in terms of their output this season, but so far, Kudus is outshining his teammate.

Kudus has been receiving plenty of praise this season. Wayne Rooney has claimed that Kudus is ready to “explode” as a player, evidently seeing something bright in him.

Spurs have only lost once this season in the Premier League, which proves that the performances of their star men have been good enough, regardless of individual stats.
