The Deputy Mayor of London, Joanne McCartney, today paid a visit to a Tottenham Hotspur Foundation scheme aimed at helping 16–24-year-olds into employment.
The Level Up Network is a free 10-week career development programme that sees participants gain access to group workshops led by experts, one-to-one career mentoring, employability support and social action, providing employability and life skills.
Since starting in 2024, the programme has:
Engaged over 350 young people through workshops and events
Provided 1-2-1 and group mentoring to over 200 young people
Supported over 63 young people into employment or further education
Supported 22 young people with work experience
Trained over 50 staff members from the Club and partner companies as mentors to young people
The Foundation has worked with a range of employers to expose participants to a wide variety of career opportunities, including Tottenham Hotspur, IWorkInSport, Wilsons Solicitors, Slaughter & May, NFL, HP and Nike among others.
The Deputy Mayor visited the Foundation’s Percy House headquarters and was greeted by the charitable body’s CEO, Marc Leckie, before meeting young local beneficiaries of the programme and taking a tour of Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The visit forms part of the Mayor of London’s New Deal For Young People that has funded 140 organisations over the last three years to deliver a mentor to 100,000 young Londoners.
Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor of London for Children and Families, said: “I was delighted to visit Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to see the impact the Level Up Network is having on young people. By offering mentoring, skills development and career opportunities, this scheme is helping young Londoners to unlock their potential and build brighter futures. The Mayor’s New Deal for Young People is giving thousands of young people the support and guidance they need to succeed, and this programme is a fantastic example of that in action. I want to thank the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and all the mentors involved for their commitment to empowering the next generation, as we build a better London for all.”
Marc Leckie, CEO, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Mayor of London for funding to deliver the Level Up programme, contributing to our long-term goal of helping more young people across our communities into work. Employment is the bedrock of a healthy society and, thanks to the Club, its stadium, all the events and the range of exciting partners being brought to the local area, there are perhaps more career opportunities for young people in Tottenham than there has been in a generation.”
