A late transfer opportunity has opened up for Tottenham ahead of the February 3rd transfer deadline.
TBR Football understand there is a chance Spurs could sign Tyler Dibling on loan from Southampton – with an obligation to buy the England U21 international this summer.
However, even a move for the talented Southampton No.33 would not provide Ange Postecoglou with a natural No.9 to cover for Dominic Solanke – who is facing six weeks out with a knee injury.
Now – however – Bayern Munich No.39 Mathys Tel has suddenly become available.
TBR Football have been told Tel has fallen out with Vincent Kompany over a lack of playing time – making just three starts in all competitions this season – and Tottenham are interested.
Max Eberl – Director of Football at the Allianz Arena – has now provided an update.
Bayern Munich confirm Mathys Tel wants to leave as Tottenham take notice
Speaking after Bayern Munich recorded a 3-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, the German said: “Mathys Tel wants to leave… so we will assess all the options and decide what to do. I can understand him.”
The France U21 international was actually handed a start for this game – which could be viewed as a late attempt from Kompany to make amends.
It comes after Fabrizio Romano claimed that Tottenham are prepared to “go bid” in order to sign Tel – with Postecoglou desperate for attacking reinforcements as Spurs sit 15th in the Premier League.
If the north Londoners are to sign the 19-year-old, however, they face fierce competition.
Tottenham certainly do not have a free run at signing the teenager – who Bayern Munich signed from Rennes for £25m when he was just 17.
TBR Football understand Manchester United and Arsenal have been invited to sign Tel by intermediaries – although Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan and Napoli have also been contacted.
