Last week, Sport Witness covered comments from Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon’s agent about his loan transfer to Fiorentina.

The attacker spent the first half of season on loan at Villarreal until that spell was cut short in January. He was out of Spurs’ plans this season, leading to his switch to Florence going through quickly.

The Israel international has already become an important player for Paolo Vanoli’s side. Earlier in the campaign, they were rock bottom in Serie A but are inching towards possible survival and recovery.

The Tottenham loanee has two goals in seven games, finding the net against Torino and Napoli. He’s played a part in this revival in Florence.

Solomon thriving away from Tottenham

Praise for the 26-year-old is now growing, with Corriere dello Sport noting the impact he has made at Fiorentina. They describe him as the ‘most successful winter signing’ of Serie A, suggesting he is making a big mark in the first-team.

The newspaper also hails his versatility, as Solomon can play on the left and on the right. His impact is said to have been evident right from his debut early in January.

With Albert Gudmundsson injured, Solomon is playing regularly. His game time can only increase in the next few weeks.

Discount sought from Spurs

After all the praise, the newspaper criticise the attacker’s defensive contribution. This is used as an excuse to question if Fiorentina should actually pay €10m to Tottenham and sign Solomon permanently or not.

That is indeed contradictory, as even though Solomon is given hero status, it seems Fiorentina will lowball when it comes to signing him permanently. Perhaps if the winger continues to perform, those doubts can also go away.

At Villarreal, Solomon had three assists in the Coppa Italia. He had a goal and an assist in Serie A in limited game time. It shows that the ability is there and he needs game time to show it off.
