Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has revealed the squad had a "big conversation" following their latest defeat to Crystal Palace. It was their fifth straight loss in the Premier League and leaves them on the brink of relegation, sitting just a point ahead of Nottingham Forest and West Ham, both of whom are in better form than Spurs' 12 points from their last 20 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke revealed the squad had a "big conversation" following their latest defeat to Crystal Palace.

Spurs fell 3-1 at home to leave them just one point ahead of 18th placed West Ham United following a third defeat in three matches for interim manager Igor Tudor.

Solanke put his side in the lead after 34 minutes, but a Micky van de Ven red card four minutes later for pulling down Ismaila Sarr in the box when clear on goal sent Spurs into panic mode.

Sarr slotted the penalty, before Jorgen Strand Larsen and Sarr again put the game to bed before half-time, as fans poured out of the stadium after three goals in seven minutes.

With only nine Premier League matches remaining this season, the defeat to Palace leaves Spurs in desperation mode, with results desperately needed.

Solanke insists his team are aware of the situation they find themselves in and said there were "no excuses" anymore.

"We just had a big conversation," Solanke told TNT Sports.

"We know the position we are in is definitely not where we want to be, so we need to figure out how we are going to get out of it as soon as possible.

"There have been difficulties, but we are not in a position to make any excuses anymore.

"We need to do the job on the pitch and I think it is easy to say that we want to be better, but we need to make sure we are better on the pitch."

Spurs have had an ongoing injury crisis throughout the season, with James Maddison the first to fall in pre-season as an ACL rupture ruled him out for the entirety, before others continued to fall.

It has left them with an incredibly thin squad at times and few players who can be brought in to make a change, with the necessary quality required in certain areas severely lacking.

Even so, it has been a capitulation of extreme length for Spurs, who have now lost each of their last five matches and picked up just 12 points from their last 20 matches.

Should that form continue, it seems as though the impossible will happen and Spurs will be relegated but Solanke is not going to go down with a fight and called on his teammates to join him.

"We need to fight, we need to realise the position that we are in, the club is not used to being in this position," he added.

"So we need to understand that, and we need to understand that it is not going to be easy.

"We need to fight, every single game, every single minute and do everything we can to make sure we improve."
