Eberechi Eze has many a friend at Tottenham as speculation involving the England international grows louder.

James Maddison has already called Eze a “baller” after previous interactions between the Crystal Palace No.10 and the Spurs No.10 on the pitch, while the man born in Greenwich has also been seen chatting to the likes of Brandon Austin and Heung-min Son at length after games.

Spurs even arranged a box for the Londoner’s entourage when Crystal Palace travelled to N17 in the 2023/24 campaign.

Tottenham therefore seem to be in a strong position to sign Eberechi Eze – although he will surely feel torn over a rumour coming from Spurs as he ponders his future.

Eberechi Eze might not get a chance to play with his close pal Heung-min Son

TBR Football understand Eze is keen on a move to Tottenham this summer, but his enthusiasm for the transfer could potentially lessen if Spurs sell his South Korean pal.

Sources state that Thomas Frank is ready to sell Son, and the Tottenham No.7 understands his time at Spurs is coming to an end at the age of 32 – after a tough 2024/25 campaign in which he scored just seven goals in 30 Premier League appearances.

However, should an exit materialise, we imagine Eze would be gutted.

The 26-year-old and Son have previously attended Burberry’s London Fashion Week show together, sitting alongside each other in good spirits.

Not only have the pair also been seen chatting at length on the pitch after meetings between Crystal Palace and Tottenham, but Son praised Eze for scoring against Spurs in March 2024 – keen to acknowledge his friend’s ability despite it coming at the expense of the north Londoners.

Heung-min Son exit could benefit Eberechi Eze

We previously mentioned that Eze may feel torn over this situation, as there is a potential upside to it.

Son leaving would lessen the competition for places on the left flank, an area where Eze has thrived under Oliver Glasner for Crystal Palace when cutting inside on his right foot.

Therefore, a departure for the South Korean could increase his chances of making the starting XI under Frank if a move materialises, despite the fact he would have to play without a good friend.
