Tottenham return to action on Thursday night when they face Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of their quarter-final. Spurs drew 1-1 in the first leg, and it proved to be a mightily frustrating evening, with the North London club putting one of their better performances of the season, but they were not rewarded with a leading goal.
Since then, Tottenham were hammered 4-2 by strugglers Wolves, eliminating any recent momentum, and once again there are serious questions being asked of Ange Postecoglou and his future at the club.
Frankfurt, meantime, are in third place in Bundesliga, three points ahead of RB Leipzig, and they defeated Heidenheim 3-0 on Sunday, with danger man Hugo Ekitike on target again, as he was against Tottenham. Robin Koch and Jean-Matteo Bahoya were also on the scoresheet.
Tottenham already know the Europa League is their only chance of qualifying for Europe next season, and Postecoglou’s job might just rely on them getting the job done in this competition. Ahead of the second leg in Germany, we have rounded up all the early injury news surrounding Tottenham and Frankfurt before we get the final injury update from both managers in the pre-match press conferences, likely on Wednesday.
Ansgar Knauff - Doubt
Knauff could return here, given he was said to be very close to returning on the weekend, but it was ultimately decided that he would not be risked.
Krisztian Lisztes - Doubt
Lisztes could return from illness, but he did not make it back for the weekend’s game despite being expected to.
Eba Bekir Is - Out
Bekir is out until mid-May with a knee injury and could be out for the season.
Dina Ebimbe - Doubt
Ebimbe has been struggling with an abdominal issue and will be a doubt.
Kevin Trapp - Out
Trapp has suffered a setback in his bid to return from a calf injury, and he will be absent here.
Timothy Chandler - Out
Chandler is sidelined until later this month with a hip issue.
Ellyes Skhiri - Out
Skhiri is out until May with a knee injury.
Heung-min Son - Doubt
Son missed the weekend game, with Postecoglou saying: “Sonny got a knock on his foot, so we're being a bit cautious with him. There was no point in him travelling.” He should be back here, but we will wait for confirmation.
Radu Dragusin - Out
Dragusin is out for the season with an ACL injury. Postecoglou confirmed at the time: “Radu underwent surgery today following his ACL injury. That procedure has now been completed, and the centre-back will now commence with his recovery before beginning the rehab process.”
Dejan Kulusevski - Doubt
Postecoglou said in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Wolves: "He's trained today with the guys who didn't play last night. He's looking good. He won't be available for Sunday, but the plan is for him to train through this weekend, train with the first team from the beginning of the week and, if he gets through that, he'll definitely be available for Thursday. Again, it will be unlikely he'll be able to start, because he's been out for a while, but he looks really good."
Kevin Danso - Doubt
Danso has a hamstring injury, and the Spurs website stated ahead of the Wolves game: “Kevin Danso, who looks unlikely to return from his hamstring injury next week.”
