Man United have been linked with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in recent weeks.
The wife of Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has played down suggestions the emotions he showed after their final Premier League home game of the season last month were an indicator that he is leaving the club.
Martinez, 32, has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks amid speculation he is set to leave Villa Park this summer.
The Argentina international committed his future to Villa as recently as last summer, signing a new deal to keep him at the club until 2029, meaning they are fairly relaxed about his future.
He joined the Midlands outfit from Arsenal in September 2020 in a £20million deal.
Nevertheless, his emotional reaction after Villa's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park sparked speculation that could have been his final home game for the club.
However, the goalkeeper's wife, Mandinha, has dismissed suggestions that was his way of saying farewell to Villa's supporters.
"He wasn't in tears," she told Ed James on BBC WM, when asked if it was a goodbye to the fans or not.
"No. Anybody who knows Emi knows he is an emotional character and that's who he is. It just shows you how much he loves the Villa fans. I love the Villa fans. We love Villa."
Martinez, who was sent-off against United at Old Trafford on the final day of the season last month after clattering into Rasmus Hojlund outside the penalty area, has grown as a goalkeeper since joining Villa almost five years ago.
His achievements include helping them qualify for the Champions League, winning the 2022 World Cup and two Copa America crowns with Argentina.
