There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Fenerbahce are showing serious interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.
It’s been widely reported this summer that Jose Mourinho wants to bring in an experienced central midfielder and his club has been linked with a host of players, including Yves Bissouma.
Sabah today report on Fenerbahce’s pursuit for a central midfielder and claim the Super Lig side have turned their attention to the Uruguay international.
It’s claimed the Yellow Canaries have already made their move for the Spurs player and submitted a €15m offer.
However, Tottenham are said to be asking for €25m, and subsequently negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.
Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans remains a reported target for Fenerbahce, but signing Bentancur looks to be a more realistic option. This summer Tottenham brought in João Palhinha from Bayern Munich, which may have prompted Fener to try for his teammate.
Bentancur made 44 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to the Premier League side until June 2026.
