HT: Tottenham 0-2 Aston Villa

Michael Brown

Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think you can hear some really disappointed chants. Spurs have played some nice stuff but Villa have been savvy, organised and have picked them off. Has Thomas Frank had time to find the balance yet?

HALF-TIME

Tottenham 0-2 Aston Villa

It's the perfect first half for Unai Emery's side.

A nightmare start for Thomas Frank's men, and there are boos from the home fans as the whistle is blown for half-time.

Aston Villa are good value for their lead. Spurs are left needing a very special second half performance.

'Villa are too much for Spurs'

Spurs 0-2 Aston Villa

Alan Shearer

Former Premier League striker on BBC One

The movement and the energy and the pace that Villa are playing with at the minute, it's just too much for Tottenham.

You're looking again for a very, very calm finish and that's exactly what you get from a fantastic player who's having a great season.

You've just seen there another great example of what this Villa team is all about. The exciting players that they've got in forward positions, and how they can punish you.

HALF-TIME

Bristol City 2-0 Watford

Imran Louza's corner is well defended by the hosts and that is near enough the last action of the half.

Fairly dominant from Bristol City, they have a two-goal cushion at the break.

GOAL - Tottenham 0-2 Aston Villa

Morgan Rogers (45+3 mins)

Of course, Tottenham also needed to make sure they didn't fall any further behind...

It's another wonderful, devastating team move, finished off confidently by Morgan Rogers.

Scorer of the opening goal, Emiliano Buendia becomes provider here - and what an assist it is as he backheels the ball into Rogers' path.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

That's more like it!

Xavi Simons is in full flow as he drives Spurs forward before clipping a ball through to Randal Kolo Muani, who lifts the ball over Marco Bizot but fails to hold his run . Up goes the flag.

Offside or not, it's received a positive reaction from the home support.

GOAL - Cambridge 0-2 Birmingham

Kyogo Furuhashi

Kyogo Furuhashi has his goal!

Just a second of the season for the Japan striker and it's all his own work.

He catches Zeno Rossi in possession on the halfway line, races clear and then finishes like a man who has never stopped scoring.

Post

Tottenham 0-1 Aston Villa

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - the lively away section aside - has fallen silent as Aston Villa begin to really dictate things in the latter stages of this first half.

Spurs have not shown nearly enough in the final third so far to suggest they will turn this around, and you sense a second for the visitors before the break could very well be enough to see them through.
