Tottenham have kickstarted their summer transfer business by signing Andy Robertson on a free transfer from Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur agreed deals in principle for both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi before the 2025/26 Premier League season ended, although both moves were contingent on the club staying in the top flight. Once that was confirmed on the final day of the campaign, it looked inevitable that the two transfers would be completed and Roberto De Zerbi would have his pair of defenders in N17.

On Friday afternoon, Spurs officially announced the signing of Andy Robertson on a free transfer from Liverpool. The experienced left-back, who will lead Scotland at the World Cup, became the first acquisition of the Roberto De Zerbi era. After Robertson’s arrival, Marcos Senesi could be the next signing the North Londoners will be looking to wrap up.

Senesi is now a free agent after his deal with Bournemouth ran out. The 29-year-old was one of the cornerstones of the Cherries’ strong campaign, which ended in qualifying for the Europa League. He was a mainstay at the back, chipping in with five assists in 37 league appearances.

Fabrizio Romano gives a big transfer update on Marcos Senesi

Discussing some exciting Tottenham transfer news in his latest YouTube video, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Lilywhites will “soon announce” Senesi as the new centre-back after Robertson’s arrival.

“Tottenham today announced Andy Robertson. Soon, Tottenham will also announce Marco Senesi as a new centre-back joining from Bournemouth,” Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“So, Tottenham are very busy to give Roberto De Zerbi what he wants.”

Senesi announcement imminent

Going by Romano’s revelation, it appears only a matter of time before Senesi’s arrival at Tottenham is confirmed, with the parties having reached a total agreement. However, given what happened with Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White last summer, Spurs fans are right to be anxious. They will only take a deep breath after the Argentine is seen holding up a Tottenham jersey.

There was speculation recently that Liverpool might make a move to hijack Spurs’ deal for the South American centre-back, especially after Ibrahima Konate’s exit on a free transfer. Add to the fact that Andoni Iraola, formerly Senesi’s boss at Bournemouth, replaced Arne Slot as the new Liverpool head coach, which further concerned the Tottenham fans.
