Tottenham Hotspur have been met with setback after setback on the summer transfer window. Aside from the 55 million pound signing of West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus and the loan acquisition of former Fulham defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha, Spurs have done very little on the transfer market this summer.
It's been a disappointing window for a team that finished just 17th in the Premier League last season and whose fanbase were looking forward to more investment after the club won the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League next season - and also hired a new manager in Thomas Frank.
Well, Frank has gotten precisely none of his desired players from Brentford, and aside from Kudus, he hasn't gotten anyone else he's wanted for the club. But that could change in the final weeks of the transfer window, as Tottenham do indeed appear to be full steam ahead for one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
According to a report from Fabrizio Romano alongside fellow insider Matteo Moretto, the rumors of Tottenham Hotspur being in on Manchester City right winger Savinho are a reality, as the dual-sided wide playmaker is seen as the "ideal player" to manager Thomas Frank.
Tottenham need to be serious here
Furthermore, Tottenham have reportedly opened up club to club negotiations with Manchester City, and the 21-year-old Brazilian star himself is "open to the move" if Man City and Tottenham can hammer out an agreement on the transfer fee.
So Tottenham HAVE to make this one count and agree to something. Savinho was excellent in his first season with Man City from Girona, but after the Citizens signed Rayan Cherki, whom Tottenham honestly screwed up not going after early in the window, Savinho is expendable...for the right price.
Valued at 50 million euros by Transfermarkt, Savinho is a left-footed right winger who is young, proven in the top two leagues in European football (he was a Player of the Season candidate for Girona before moving to partner club Manchester City last year), and under contract through the 2028/29 season.
Savinho would be a serious coup for Tottenham and give them a great group of wingers in Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert, Kudus, Savinho, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson. That's a young, high-upside stable for Frank to work with, and if Spurs can land Savinho's Man City teammate James McAtee as a partial James Maddison replacement, then maybe this window won't be such a disaster after all.
