Djed Spence enjoyed his full England debut on Wednesday evening as the Three Lions ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in friendly action against Wales at Wembley Stadium.

However, the flip side of that meant a difficult night for Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson, who both started for Craig Bellamy’s side with Davies captaining the team on the occasion of his 99th Welsh cap.

Having made his England debut off the bench in their 5-0 World Cup qualifying win in Serbia last month, Spence was handed his first start for his country by Head Coach Thomas Tuchel.

Featuring at left back, Spence was directly up against his Spurs team-mate Johnson down the Welsh right flank, although it was all England as they raced into a 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Bukayo Saka.

It was a better display from Wales after the break as they prevented any further damage, with Davies playing 64 minutes before being replaced by Chris Mepham and Johnson lasting 76 minutes before he made way for Lewis Koumas. Spence featured for the whole game for England.

Both sides can now focus on important upcoming World Cup qualifiers with England travelling to Latvia on Tuesday and Wales hosting Belgium, a game which could see Davies reach his century of caps.
