Tottenham Hotspur turned to Thomas Frank in the summer after their decision to sack Ange Postecoglou. Prior to his move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he caught the eye at Brentford. The London outfit are currently sat in 10th place in the Premier League table.
They have 18 points on the board from their first 13 games and are four points off the top four. Frank’s men lost 2-1 at home to Fulham on Saturday night. Mohamed Kudus got their goal early in the second half but they weren’t able to find an equaliser in the end and slumped to another defeat.
Tottenham Hotspur should eye Oliver Glasner alternative
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner was linked with Spurs before Frank was appointed. He could naturally be planted on their radar again this winter if they decide to make a managerial change. However, they should steer clear of the Austrian for the time being and go for someone else.
Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe may fancy a change of scene after a lengthy spell in the North East and would be ideal. He has kept his place with the Toon Army throughout the process of their big money takeover and has been a calming presence in the dugout. It hasn’t all been plain sailing for him but overall he has done a steady job.
Howe, 48, joined his current club back in 2021 and he has since guided them into the Champions League. He has won 50.8% of his 193 matches at the helm and is closing in on 200 games. In addition, he ended their 56-year wait for a trophy after they beat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley in the last campaign.
Why Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe would suit Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle manager Howe is an experienced operator at the top level and would be a shrewd pick by Spurs if they were able to lure him down south. They could provide him with a new challenge and something different to sink his teeth into. He is working under the terms of a long-term contract but the actual length isn’t publicly known.
The Buckinghamshire-born man started his managerial career at AFC Bournemouth in the lower leagues before landing the Burnley job in 2011. However, things didn’t work out for him at Turf Moor and he ended up returning to the Cherries. He then carried on his impressive work with the Dorset club and got them promoted to the top flight against the odds before they established themselves.
Howe took time out of the game before Newcastle came calling. His spell away gave him the chance to recharge the batteries and he has since done well with the Toon Army. He has played a variety of different formations over the years including 4–3–3, 4–5–1, 3–4–2–1 and 4-4-2 and has coached some top players such as Bruno Guimarães, Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak, among others, and has managed to get the best out of them.
