Dyson, a Spurs double-winning hero in 1961, made 58 appearances for the U’s between 1968 and 1970.
'Looks like a serious one': Danny Cowley gives Colchester injury update
In total he made 209 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, scoring 55 goals.
Dyson’s time at Colchester came when he found himself as a free agent after leaving Fulham and without a club for the first time in more than 13 years.
That was when Dick Graham, who had just taken over as Colchester manager, stepped in.
The legendary former U’s boss contacted Dyson at the start of the 1968/69 season and after impressing in a trial match, the attacker signed a deal with Colchester until the end of the season, with a one-year option.
After making 58 appearances for the club, Dyson was released by Colchester in 1970 at the age of 35 after they chose not to renew his contract.
