After Antoine Semenyo swiftly rejected them and is now increasingly closer to Premier League title contenders Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur have to head back to the drawing board as they look to beef up their woeful attack in the January transfer window to improve upon an embarrassing 14th place ranking in the league heading into Christmas.

Spurs supporters are mostly zeroing in on Savinho, who was linked to the club in the summer transfer window but was unable to join due to Man City's unwillingness to sell someone they could not replace. Well, after struggling to start the season, Savinho is on the verge of being replaced by Semenyo, who has been one of the very best players in the Premier League this season.

Savinho will help out on the wings, but Tottenham could still be after someone to man the middle. And before acquiring Randal Kolo Muani, who spent the 2024/25 season lighting up Serie A with Juventus, on loan from PSG, Spurs were briefly linked to Chelsea transfer flop Christopher Nkunku.

He used to be one of the best in the world

Once one of the best players in Europe, Nkunku led RB Leipzig to their first major trophy in the DFB Pokal and was one of the dominant forces of the Bundesliga for years. His playmaking was a big reason why Timo Werner ended up at clubs like Chelsea nad Tottenham.

But Nkunku could not cut the mustard in the Premier League himself. That may have largely been due to injuries, but so far in the 2025/26 season, he is not exactly lighting it up in Serie A either. And now, AC Milan are already looking to cut ties with him this winter.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com's Daniele Longo, AC Milan are already shopping Christopher Nkunku due to their sheer disappointment in his start at the club. Nkunku has not met expectations at all, and Milan reportedly feel that he is wilting under the pressure and is simply too passive to turn it around and be an ultimate success at the club. It also does not help that his fitness woes from Chelsea have continued at the San Siro.

It looks like Milan and Nkunku's agent Pini Zahavi are both searching for a solution, so there is a strong likelihood Nkunku switches allegiances again after six months. He could be an easy, cheap signing for Tottenham to roll the dice on as another option alongside Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani up top at striker. He is far from the most appealing player to sign, but he is a center forward worth monitoring.
