Earning her 13th consecutive start for us since joining in the winter, the talented young midfielder was at her very best at Brisbane Road at the weekend – albeit she has arguably been one of the standout performers since the turn of the year – and netted the opening goal of the contest to get us started in the London derby before Olivia Holdt doubled our advantage with a stunning strike from distance.
However, what caught the eye specifically in the 20-year-old’s performance was her composure on the ball, her ability to glide past opponents and relentless pressing from the very first minute, which saw her named your Player of the Match from an exclusively poll on our website and official app.
That all comes from the partnership of the experienced Drew alongside her, allowing the Norway international to have freedom to express herself on the pitch – and Siggy believes they have built a 'good connection' on the pitch.
“I love playing with Drew in midfield,” she told us, speaking to SPURSPLAY after the game. “Over the last games, we've got to know each other more as well, so I think we have a good connection. I like to be a lot on the ball and when I play deeper, it's easier to get on the ball, so it really suits me well.
“It was important and nice for us to get the goal a bit earlier than we have done previously, it makes the game a bit more calm and really nice for myself as well to get the goal.
“We see when we are brave on the ball and keep playing in their half, it opens up and it's from us pressing high, we're winning the ball [back] in both goals and, of course, the finish from Oli is amazing.”
It was a record-breaking afternoon for us as the victory over London City saw us surpass our highest-ever points tally (32 in 2021/22 campaign) and end the campaign at home with three points in front of our supporters.
“It's really nice to end the season here at home with a win,” Siggy added. [I’m] Happy we got the three points and, of course, just amazing with all the people in the stands.
“You see all the supporters standing here [after the game], wanting to talk with us - it's really nice. We can hear them throughout the game, so it's amazing and I hope it will be even more the next season.”
