Ryan Mason looks set to swap Tottenham for West Brom in the summer
Tottenham are facing a busy summer ahead as a lot of changes are expected at N17 after a tough domestic campaign. The Lilywhites managed to make history last week to end the season on a high. Ange Postecoglou’s men won the Europa League after beating Manchester United in the final. They also gave themselves a platform to build on heading into next season.
Many key players are expected to leave N17 for pastures new in the summer. But the players are not the only ones expected to make a summer switch. Ange Postecoglou’s backroom staff is also going through an overhaul as the North London club prepares to kickstart a new era at the club after ending their long-standing trophy drought.
Big Ange is not the only person that is facing an uncertain future at Spurs after a tough season. His assistant manager, Ryan Mason is also generating headlines after helping the club reach the promised land in this campaign. The former Spurs player was forced into an early retirement after a severe head injury. He then turned into a full-time coach at N17 and learned his trade under several managers before assisting Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham asst. manager Ryan Mason is linked with a managerial move to West Brom
As per The Telegraph, West Brom want to hire Tottenham assistant manager Ryan Mason as their new manager for next season. The Baggies believe that Mason perfectly fits the bill as they look to find a permanent replacement of Tony Mowbray. The Black Country outfit also believe that the Spurs asst. manager would be the ideal candidate to lead the club back to the Premier League in no time.
Now, Lee Hendrie has also showcased his support for Ryan Mason and has backed the Spurs coach to take the managerial job. Speaking to the Football League World, Hendrie said,
“I look at this and if I personally had to pick, I would go for Ryan Mason. He’s had enough time around the game where he’s learnt a lot, and he’s run the ship at times at Spurs, so with fresh, young ideas and knowing the Championship well means he would be a better fit if I’m being honest.”
The Sky Sports pundit added,
“I think Mason would be a good appointment for them, and they have to give him the stability and drive to bring in players of his own calibre, and he will probably attract players going into the Championship as well.”
Lee Hendrie has suggested that Ryan Mason would be a perfect fit at West Brom as the Englishman has learnt his trade at Tottenham and also managed the Lilywhites a few times. The pundit also urged the Baggies to give Mason some time now to settle down and bring him the players that he wants if they want to return to the Premier League in the future.
Well, it is not wrong to say that hiring Ryan Mason would be a big risk. The Englishman has never managed a club in the Championship and has very little experience in management. But it can also be said that this is the right time for the Spurs coach to take the next step in his career and head for pastures new to test himself in a new environment.

Ryan Mason has managed Tottenham in two different spells during his time at N17. The ex-Spurs players has registered six wins and six defeats during his spell at the helm at the North London club. So, the Englishman certainly has the talent and the calibre to handle a team in crisis. Fans will hope that Mason does well at his new club if heads for the exit doors in the summer.
