Tottenham Hotspur fans have had a lot to say about Guglielmo Vicario this season, and Ben Foster has now given his opinion on the shot-stopper.
Vicario is Thomas Frank’s first-choice goalkeeper for this season, but he hasn’t displayed the confident performances that fans want to see.
Some Tottenham supporters have called for Vicario to be dropped, deeming him unreliable despite keeping four clean sheets this season.
Despite the fan reactions to him, Vicario has proven his quality this season at times, although he did something that Foster wasn’t a fan of.
Ben Foster doesn’t believe Guglielmo Vicario is a top-six goalkeeper
Even though Vicario has been criticised at points this season, statistically, he is performing well for Spurs.
Vicario has an 82.8% save percentage, with only Arsenal’s David Raya boasting more than him, which means the Tottenham goalkeeper is one of the best in the league.
However, that’s something that Foster doesn’t agree with. During the latest episode of The Football Fill-In he ripped into Vicario for his behaviour against Leeds United.
“No, I wouldn’t put him there (as a top six keeper). He did make that save down to his left, which was a world-class save, but then got up and gave it that (a celebration), and I hate that.
“For this weekend, I’m not putting him in because he got up and went ‘yes, I’m the man, I’m the man.’ I don’t like that, I’m just thinking, make your save and get up.”
Interestingly, Leeds boss Daniel Farke praised Vicario after the game at Elland Road, claiming he was the “man of the match” with his performance.

Vicario had a tricky period prior to the international break, which arguably came at the right time for him to get out of the Premier League spotlight.
The shot-stopper struggled against Bodo/Glimt and followed that up with an individual error against Leeds United when he parried the ball into Noah Okafor’s feet for a tap-in.
While Tottenham went on to win the game 2-1, the mistake put his teammates under severe pressure at Elland Road, which only added to the fan frustration surrounding him right now.
