TBR can confirm now that the Gunners have reached an agreement to sign Eze.

Exclusive: Eberechi Eze is ‘really excited’ about joining Arsenal and feels he has got the move he wanted

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that terms have been agreed between Arsenal and Crystal Palace for the transfer of Eberechi Eze.

We confirmed that Eze had agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur and even held talks with Thomas Frank when it looked like Arsenal weren’t going to make a move for him.

However, following Kai Havertz’s knee injury, the Gunners acted swiftly, and TBR can confirm that a deal in the region of £68 million has been struck to sign Eze.

As for the England international, we can reveal that he is ‘really excited’ about joining Arsenal – it was the move he wanted from the start and always preferred the Gunners over other interested clubs.

Bailey told TBR: “I can confirm that Arsenal have agreed terms with Palace – it is the £68 million that Tottenham were willing to do. It had just needed talks about payment terms, but they are now agreed.

“Eze will feature for Palace on Thursday before having a medical at Arsenal on Friday. That’s the plan. Whether Eze does play remains to be seen.”

Speaking about the player’s feelings, Bailey added: “Eze is really excited, it’s one of those situations where it has worked out as he wanted.

“As we know from the off, Arsenal were always Eze’s first choice. The main stumbling block was that they saw him as a 10 – it was not the fact that they did not like him. The Havertz injury has changed that.”

Eberechi Eze is set to become Arsenal’s third-most expensive signing of all time

Arsenal have spent a lot of money already in this window, and Eze is now set to become their biggest signing of the summer.

With the deal struck at £68 million, the England international will also become Arsenal’s third-most expensive signing of all time, overtaking Havertz and summer signing Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal take on Leeds United next in the Premier League, but it is unlikely that Eze will be in the squad for that game, considering that his medical is only scheduled for Friday.

However, if the deal goes through as expected, he should make his debut against Liverpool in the final game of this month.
