TBR Football understands that following initial discussions, Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in signing Savinho from Manchester City.
Sources informed TBR Football last week that Tottenham had been offered Savinho, and the North London club were keen on the winger.
Now, Spurs have held talks with the player and found he is open to the deal; meanwhile, City are willing to discuss a deal for the 21-year-old.
Following James Maddison’s knee injury, Spurs have remained adamant about adding to their attacking options, and now Savinho is emerging as a key target.
Sources: Manchester City want over £50m for Tottenham target Savinho
Manchester City would want close to £50 million with add-ons to sell Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur, sources have told Graeme Bailey, Chief Correspondent at TBR Football.
The two Premier League clubs are now locked in talks over a deal for the Brazilian international in a bid to find an agreement.
At this stage, a loan is seen as unlikely, but that is what these talks are to hammer out: what a deal would look like.
TBR Football also revealed last week that City and Tottenham held James McAtee and Jack Grealish talks, with Savinho now being added to that list
Speaking exclusively to TBR Football, Bailey revealed: “Savinho, as we revealed, is appealing to Spurs. Whilst he would not be cheap, his wages are somewhat less than a Rodrygo or Kolo Muani, for instance, and would likely be a better fit in those terms to the Spurs squad.
“Savinho at 21 is full of promise, has a full Premier League season under his belt and when Spurs were told he could be available, it is easy to see why their interest was piqued.
“As we revealed, Tottenham are in talks with City about James McAtee and also spoke about Jack Grealish, and it is not inconceivable they could sign more than one player from the Etihad.”
Tottenham face PSG in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, so they will need to accelerate talks to sign him before the match.
Savinho could be the perfect Son Heung-min replacement for Tottenham
Tottenham recently lost Son Heung-min to LAFC as their legendary captain was sold to the MLS club in a deal worth around £20 million.
Son, who impressed on his LAFC debut, will be tricky to replace, but signing someone like Savinho would be an impressive coup.
The Brazilian is capable of playing as a number ten and on either flank, so would offer Thomas Frank plenty of options.
Savinho had a mixed first season in the Premier League, but given his age, he still has a long way to go in terms of his development.
