Last season, Arsenal finished second in the Premier League standings with 74 points in 38 matches, a full 10 points behind league-winning Liverpool, which secured its 84 points. Arsenal drawing 14 times in 38 matches is ultimately what ruined its title hopes. Newcastle, meanwhile, finished the season in fifth place, good enough for automatic Champions League qualification for next season.
